The rising cost of precious metals emphasises for me the importance of good technique and processes, highlighting the need to be proficient and minimise precious metal loss. At the start of my creative journey at TAFE I was overwhelmed and intimidated by the difficulty of sawpiercing exercises that I begun to question my choice to get into the industry.
Conquering the Sawframe celebrates those challenging aspects of learning. Its’s a reminder of constant growth and improvement, standing as a testament to the fact that something that may have made you quit can become something familiar and comforting.
PROFILE
Jessica Buckley is an emerging contemporary jewellery and object designer whose practice celebrates ancient techniques and hand fabrication. Through her work, she cultivates a sense of continuity with jewellers of the past, reinterpreting these methods in contemporary forms. Her pieces often involve intricate soldering, assembling multiple elements into cohesive, sculptural adornments. Characterised by soft lines and organic forms, her work draws deeply from the natural world. Each piece stands as a considered love letter to the enduring craft of gold and silversmithing.
